We’re looking for an assistant coach to help grow FSE Coaching. This is a remote position, but an ideal candidate will live near and be involved with a local biking community. This is a flexible, part-time position to start, but could grow to full-time if desired.
An ideal candidate will:
Have cycling or triathlon racing experience AND/OR education or training in sports physiology.
Have experience coaching athletes, especially women.
Be detail oriented in both communication and administrative tasks.
Be comfortable with technology, including websites and cycling hardware like bike computers and power meters.
Be able to connect with people on a personal level quickly and easily.
Be friendly and approachable.
Be active in your local cycling community.
Have experience with strength training.
Have a growth mindset and a desire to learn and get better.
Most importantly, you should enjoy working with people and helping them reach their goals. Physiology and training methods for cycling can be learned, but at your core, you must have a desire to help people grow. Numbers and metrics are important in cycling, but at its heart, this is a customer service business. Your accomplishments, education, and referrals can help you land clients. But your responsiveness, follow-through, and reliability as a coach is what will keep clients.
(Assistant coaches are 1099 Independent Contractors with flexibility to work other jobs, except cycling coaching.)
What we can offer you:
Client referrals and support to help you grow your client base.
Your bio and contact info on our website.
A paid TrainingPeaks coaching account.
FSE liability insurance to cover your coaching and clinics.
All client billing and automatic electronic payment every month.
Extensive database of custom cycling workouts and training plans in TrainingPeaks.
Extensive database of custom strength workouts and training plans in TrainHeroic.
70% of monthly fees from your clients, increasing to 75% after 1 year.
Advice and guidance about training, racing, and customer relationships.
Significant discounts from many outdoor sports brands.
The opportunity to help shape FSE Coaching into one of the best coaching companies in the country.
Note that your client base will primarily grow from word of mouth and your presence in the local cycling community. Coaching an athlete can be a very personal relationship and as such, referrals directly from FSE can be rare. Clients tend to seek out individual coaches they connect with or get a personal referral to, not a company offering a service. But we can help you find those clients and offer the infrastructure for you to provide high quality coaching.
If you’d like to apply, email me about your interest or any questions you have. You can also send a resume anytime and I’ll reply asap. eric@fsecoaching.com
